What is happiness?

The Merriam-Webster Dictionary defines HAPPINESS as:
: a state of well-being and contentment : joy. : a pleasurable or satisfying experience.

I define happiness as a state of being that I strive for in my daily life. It is the feeling of contentment and joy that arises from within when I am at peace with myself and the world around me. Happiness is not something that can be bought or obtained from external sources, but rather it is a state of mind that can be cultivated through my thoughts, actions, and choices.

One of the keys to happiness is gratitude. When I focus on the things I have in my life, rather than what I lack, I begin to appreciate the beauty and abundance around me. By cultivating a gratitude practice, such as keeping a daily journal or expressing gratitude to those around me, helps me shift my focus and find joy in the present moment.

Another important factor in happiness is connection. Human beings are social creatures, and we thrive on meaningful relationships with others. Building and nurturing positive relationships with family, friends, and community members provides me with a sense of belonging and purpose that contributes to my overall happiness.

Finally, it is important to remember that happiness is not a destination, but rather a journey. It is something that I try to actively pursue and work towards every day. By making conscious choices to prioritize my well-being, set goals, and engage in activities that bring me joy, I have created a life that is filled with happiness and fulfillment. So, take time to appreciate the present moment, connect with those around you, and pursue the things that bring you joy – for happiness is not a destination, but a journey that we can all embark upon.
